29: A Letter to Myself

Hey girl,

Today marks the first day of a new year for you! It's an exciting place to be but if you're honest with yourself, it's also a little frightening. This past year you've been to hell and back trying to remain optimistic and hopeful about your future and there were times that you wanted to throw in the towel and just quit while you were ahead. Let me be the first to say, I'm really glad you didn't. Twenty eight was filled will some really high, highs and some extremely low, lows but you persevered and one day when you look back on what seems like the most trying season of your life, you'll see exactly how the tests served their purpose in getting you where you're meant to be. 

There's something I want to tell you that I don't think I say nearly enough: I'm proud of the woman you've become. Every day may not be won and some of life's battles may end in defeat but you're destined for greatness so keep going. I promise you, those losses will make the overall victory that much sweeter in the end! I know you've been hurt and disappointed more times than you'd care to count so I know you're still healing from a lot but this year, I want you to be intentional about some things to make that healing process a tad bit easier.

Give yourself permission to be vulnerable. Don't put on a brave face when you know it's not serving you. Fight for yourself, because if you don't, why should anyone else? Love the woman you are today, not just the one you want to become. Make this year about creating memories and experiences. Open your heart and your mind to receive the things you've always deserved. I know some of this is easier said than done but I'm writing you this letter so you have something to come back to on those days when persevering is particularly hard. Being the strong woman gets exhausting and I know you're tired, but know this: it won't always be this difficult.

Let twenty nine be the year that you live unapologetically! Go after your heart's desires! Don't let anyone or anything convince you that you're not deserving of the exact life that you want! Get up every day knowing that you are a queen in your own right and God put something so beautiful in you that the world needs. You owe it to yourself to see this thing through to the end.
